Welcome! We invite you to join our fight to resist the Trump agenda with the most effective tactics recommended by experienced congressional staffers.
First, read the Indivisible Guide at http://www.indivisibleguide.com, or watch the brief video here (LINKS -> WATCH).
The Indivisible strategy recognizes that the only Members of Congress (MoCs) that citizens can truly influence are their own. For Minnesotans, this means targeting our two senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken and one of eight congresspersons (listed above under LINKS -> CD GROUPS). You can find Indivisible groups targeting your MoC on the indivisible guide website under the CD GROUPS tab and also at https://www.indivisibleguide.com/groups-nav. If you are a local Indivisible Group who would like to be listed here, contact us here at firstname.lastname@example.org. If there is no group in your congressional district, start one! We'll help. And Minnesotans without a local group are still encouraged to use our guide to influence their Senators and Congresspersons about whichever issue they are most passionate about (ACA repeal, mining near the BWCA, etc).
The best way to influence your MoC is in person, such as at Town Hall Meetings. We encourage members to follow their MoC's schedule and never miss an opportunity for a meeting. However, these opportunities are few. Next, constituents can look for opportunities to meet their MoC whenever he or she is in town attending official events and attempt to ask their MoC questions, even ones not related to the official events. We will post any scheduled Town Hall Meetings or any other opportunities to meet our our senators in person under the GO tab.
Groups of constituents (the larger, the better) can also meet at a MoC's local office and ask for a face to face meeting or to show unified opposition (or support) for a position the MoC has taken. This is the impetus behind "Stop Trump Tuesdays", in which all Minnesotans are invited to gather at Senator Klobuchar's local office at noon every Tuesday to present our weekly concerns (under GO tab).
The next best way is to call. And call. And call. Every. Single. Day. Read the entire Indivisible guide or posted articles (LINKS -> READ) to learn why. Emails, letters, and petitions (unless solicited by the MoC) are much less effective and generally not worth not taking the time to send or sign. We suggest adding your MoC's phone numbers (both local and DC) to your contacts and then making phone a daily (or at least weekly) routine. We will suggest new scripts for our senators each week or more often if needed.
You can keep track of the legislative activity in Congress (scheduled hearings, votes, etc) with the following Congressional calendar: www.indivisibleguide.com/action-calendar.
And since so much is also happening in the state level, we have added a link (LINKS -> MN STATE GOVT) to an update of state and local legislative activity both on Facebook and on the web at:
We also recognize that the Indivisible tactics, while necessary, are not sufficient. Trump's policies are so inhumane, abominable, and unconstitutional that they also call for sustained, widespread nonviolent resistance. We have added calendars of other local actions (under "LINKS") to help you keep track of local marches, protests, and other actions. If you would like to have your local event added, email us at: email@example.com.
